Dream Cruise 2016

Today was the 2016 Dream Cruise and I figured I should visit since I hadn’t seen too much of it the last two years. Still in Downtown Royal Oak, I could see quite a few fancy cars driving around.

One of them was this beauty of a Corvette:

I then walked to Woodward Avenue where the side of the road was filled with parked vehicles and spectators. Traffic was unbelievably slow so that you were literally moving faster by foot than by car despite the occasional photo break.

Waterford Hills

Today, Becky was so kind to invite us to the Waterford Hills race track. Her dad has a ‘66 Corvette and was registered for some of the races this weekend. Throughout this annual event, the track is organizing races in different categories most of which involve classic cars.

According to them, this is one of the few events they can participate in due to the “missing” muffler and noise restrictions that typically apply at this track. Not so much today, though.

Downtown

On Thursday, Jessie wanted to go catch Pokémon and I wanted to take pictures. Therefore, we drove down to Detroit and just walked around a little bit.

Marc & Ines Wedding

Last weekend, Marc and Ines got married and I could finally practice wedding photography again. They got married in Wolfsburg and had their reception at the Ritz Carlton in the Autostadt which is also where we started the day.

In some last minute preparations, the groom carefully applies shoe polish:

After both got ready, we drove to the wakeboard park in the Allerpark to take pictures there. The weather was not so great and we tried to get in the shots between showers making sure that their dresses don’t get too wet. It worked out pretty well and apparently bad weather on your wedding day is good luck.

National Air and Space Museum

One of the museums that we visited in D.C. was the National Air and Space Museum. To me, this was also the most exciting one. Like with all the other museums, the entry was free and we spent quite some time to go through all their different exhibits.

The aircrafts that they had available included passenger planes, fighters and a couple of drones as well.

D. C.

On Memorial Day weekend, Jessie and I took a vacation and flew to D.C. I was tempted to write that we flew to Washington but every time I told that to somebody, they asked me if I mean the state or the city.

Anyway, Jessie had never been and I had only gone there to visit the USDOT and never really had time to see much of the city. Washington D.C. White House

Fisher Building

One of the remarkable historic building in Detroit, that I hadn’t seen so far, is the Fisher Building. This changed yesterday when Thomas and Daniel were in town for a visit and Andrew gave us a tour of some nice historic places in Detroit.

The Fisher Building is located north of Midtown and while I was expecting a somewhat empty and unused building, it is hosting quite a few smaller shops and coffee places as well as the Fisher Theatre. This would be a good place for an little more focused photo shoot some time soon.

Photo Shoot with Verena

Verena had asked me to take pictures of her and yesterday we went to Stoney Creek to make this happen. Last weekend still felt like winter in Michigan and now it looks like we skipped spring alltogether and immediately went to summer (no complaints here). Nature didn’t quite catch up with that yet, though. That’s why the background in those pictures is still a little bit brown.

Also, this was the first time that I really realized what harsh shadows during noon time really mean. There were all kinds of shadows from the trees that we needed to dodge. It was a lot of fun, though, and afterwards we went for a nice bike ride around the lake.

Sergio's Birthday

Sergio is getting old. What a great reason to celebrate and visit the Brown Iron Brewhouse.

Sunday Coffee

There is nothing better than a coffee at Great Lakes Coffee Roasting in the middle of a walk through Midtown on a cold April afternoon. Okay maybe a beer at HopCat but that’s for another time.
