Last weekend, we visited Grand Rapids. That was the first time I’ve been to the city and I hope it’s not the last time. We came for the Art Prize festival where local and national artists show their pieces throughout the whole city and you can just wander around and look at them. This one here was right in the front yard of the bed & breakfast that we stayed at.
We stayed in a very nice neighborhood with historic buildings that was fun to walk through.
We were really surprised how walkable the city is. It felt very European to me with wide sidewalks and many trees and benches.
We found these birds(?) here to be a little bit creepy and disturbing.
This man here was just sitting on the grass at a small park in the center of the city and creating paintings on wood using pure sunlight. I was very impressed with the accuracy that he had achieved.
The last pictures were taken in the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel where the winner of the festival was presented. I was more interested in the hotel itself which - in contrast to many other hotels I’ve seen - looked very nice not only at first sight but also when looking closer.
Oh and Jessie was a lot faster in getting her post done :) - you should check it out.
