Dresden
Last weekend, we went on a short trip to Dresden. Jessie had already been there for a language course but it was the first time for me.
The weather was tolerable but we made it work with a lot of museum visits. We very much enjoyed the transportation museum and the military history museum.
In general, Dresden is pretty and has to offer interesting sights like this statue which, I believe, was part of an art exchange project.
We also visited a museum for everyday life in the GDR which was hidden away on the second floor of a mall. Among other things, they showed these beautiful wallpapers.
One of the days, we drove out to the “Saxon Switzerland” for a hike up to and across the Bastei bridge. I was a bit afraid that there would be lots of tourists but the fact that we went on a friday and the weather being not so great helped and it wasn’t busy at all.
There were also more alternative neighborhoods in the city where we went to grab dinner and some beers. I’d definitely come again and next time maybe combine it with a trip to prague which - to my surprise - is only another 100km from there.
